Wi-Fi “Fever”


   Nowadays, Wi-Fi network is one of the world’s most popular network technologies. Wi-Fi connections support millions of people in home, business, and public locations around the world. According to webopedia, Wi-Fi is the name of a popular wireless networking technology that uses radio waves to provide wireless high speed internet and network connections. Many of companies, schools, and colleges using the Wi-Fi facility as the needs of employees and students. Jenderal Soedirman University use this facility as a complement to the students, and also a lecturer to help them in the process of learning and teaching. However, many of students in FIB (Fakultas Ilmu Budaya) use this facility in wrong way.
   They are abusing this facility when a lecture hours to open social media sites in terms of personal interest and abuse on IP address for personal gain such as downloading games or movies which have big size of network data continuously. They are forgot about the time, and place. Although in any holiday they will come to the campus to use the Wi-Fi networks. Usually, some of them choose the place to connect their Wi-Fi in the gazebo. “They come to the campus everyday just to use the free Wi-Fi networks, they forget about the day and the night”, Taufik, the student of English Literature said. Larasati, the student of English Diploma also said that they must be not only looking for their task, because they use all day long until night is coming..
   According to yunda.wordpress.com, internet abuse facts reveal is the easy access to pornography sites. Though it has made the anti-pornography law nonetheless but still many internet users who access the site that smelled of pornography. Some of student FIB also said that they are quietly use the Wi-Fi connections to upload something like that.
   Therefore, Kompas Healthy (24 November 2014) said that radiation of Wi-Fi which is not too high could cause headaches, lethargy, queasy, and difficulty breathing, even paralysis. Results of research of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in 2010 also states that the Wi-Fi signal is significantly also can interfere with brain activity in young women.
